Ritu Kaur Cooper

Ritu Kaur Cooper is a shareholder in Hall Render’s health regulatory section serving as the Co-Office Managing Partner of Hall Render’s Washington, DC office and Co-Leader of the firm’s compliance service line.

Ritu’s practice consists of representing health care providers such as hospitals, health systems and large physician practice groups, as well as laboratories, pharmaceutical and medical device companies, and other health care organizations in litigation, regulatory and compliance matters with particular focus on fraud and abuse, compliance, internal and government investigations, voluntary disclosures and management of compliance with CIA requirements. Ritu regularly works with legal and compliance departments to assist clients with the development of effective compliance programs consistent with OIG guidance.  Ritu’s experience allows her the ability to understand the nuanced differences between the guidance for health care providers and medical device companies.

She drafts compliance policies and procedures, develops and provides compliance education and training from the Board level to employees to contracted HCPs, drafts and negotiates agreements consistent with the fraud and abuse laws and assists clients with internal investigations and implementing appropriate corrective actions.  She counsels health care providers and medical device companies on compliance with the Anti-Kickback Statute, AdvaMed Code of Conduct and state and federal “Sunshine” laws.  Ritu served as Interim Chief Compliance Officer to Beaver Dam Community Hospitals, Inc. for 3 years and Interim Deputy Compliance Officer for Division II of Prime Healthcare, Inc. for a little over 1 year.
