Susan is a shareholder at Young Moore and a member of its healthcare practice team, where she represents hospitals, physicians, and other healthcare providers in a variety of matters, including medical malpractice defense and general liability. She also advises clients on avoiding and managing risks. Additionally, Susan is certified by the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission to conduct Superior Court mediations in North Carolina.

Susan began her legal career as a law clerk to Chief Judge Arnold at the North Carolina Court of Appeals following graduation from law school in 1997. She had an extensive career in private practice defending healthcare providers before accepting an appointment with the North Carolina Department of Justice in January of 2013 where she defended North Carolina state agencies in medical malpractice claims and other catastrophic injury cases. She returned to private practice joining Young Moore in August of 2017.

Susan is a native of Fayetteville, North Carolina and a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of North Carolina School of Law. In addition to her AV Preeminent Rating from Martindale Hubbell, Susan is recognized on the NC Lawyers Weekly Medical Malpractice Power List (2024) and in The Best Lawyers in America© in the areas of Litigation-Health Care and Medical Malpractice Law-Defendants.
